1 ¼ cup boiling water
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 shakes nutmeg ( 1/8 tsp.?)
1 ½ cup flour

Frosting:

½ cup Butter - melt butter on very low heat and stir in:
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
¼ cup evaporated milk (canned – not condensed)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup coconut flakes
1 cup chopped nuts ( walnuts or pecans )

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot water over oats and let soak for 5 or so minutes. Blend in remaining ingredients. Cream together with beaters sugars, butter, and vanilla. Add the rest of ingredients including oatmeal mixture. Pour batter into a well-greased 9 x 13 pan.
Bake at 350 F for 30—35 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool slightly and cover with nut/Carmel frosting(center is toothpick clean). For frosting, In a med saucepan, melt butter on low heat. Add brown sugar, egg, evaporated milk, vanilla. Mixx well then add coconut flakes and nuts. Cook on medium heat stirring constantly for 6-8 minutes.
