2 cups Idli rice
1 cup urad dhal
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Soak rice and urad dhal in water separately for at least 2 -3 hours.
Drain water from urad dhal add them to the grinder. Collect the urad dhal batter in a container. Now drain water from rice and add it to the grinder, sprinkle in a little water and start grinding. feel the batter, should be a toothpaste consistency.

Combine the batter and leave it to ferment.

Now use the Idli making container and pour batter on a greased idli maker, cover and cook it for about 10 minutes. Then carefully open it and use a spoon to scoop them out when done.
