1 cup raisins
3/4 cup shortening
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 cups oats
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 cups chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
simmer raisins and water over med. heat, until raisins are plumb (
about 15 mins.)
drain raisins, reserving the liquid, add enough water to measure 1/2
cup
heat oven to 400º, mix throughly shortening, sugar, eggs, and
vanilla
blend in raisins liquid, stir in remaining ingred.
drop by tsp fulls about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheet
bake 8-10 mins. or until lightly brown
immediately remove from cookie sheet
