Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cps sugar
4 egg yolks (Be sure to take off the goobers : )
12 oz. can evaporated milk
1 cube margarine, melted
1 tsp vanilla
2 cps coconut flakes
1 1/4 cps chopped pecans

This is the same as my mother's recipe except that I added another third--
hence the 'plus'. I did not increase the margarine.

Directions:
Directions:
Blend sugar and egg yolks with a few Tblsp of the milk until it has no 'yolk lumps'. Add milk, margarine, and vanilla. Stir constantly with a whisk over med-low heat until mixture boils--boil about 5 min while it thickens. If it scorches, you have to throw it away so be careful. Remove from heat.

Add coconut and pecans and stir occasionally until slightly cooled.
I prefer to spread it on the cake while frosting is still quite warm.

Personal Notes:
I use a Betty Crocker German chocolate cake mix, and, yes, I think the brand matters.

I use a 9 x 13 pan and cut it in half horizontally. I have a cookie sheet with no edge that works great to lift the top half off while I frost the bottom.
