Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 T olive oil
1 C finely chopped onions
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cans (28oz each) crushed italian tomatoes
4 T tomato paste
3 T lemon juice
1 t dried oregano
1 t dried basil
Pinch of ground allspice (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Pinch of hot red pepper flakes
2 T chopped parsley (I use dried most often)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oil in a medium sized saucepan. Add onions and garlic and cook over low heat to wilt the vegetables.

Add remaining ingredients, except the parsley. Stir well, cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring once. Remove cover, add parsley and simmer an additional 15 min. or until fairly thick, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, cool and refrigerate.

I freeze 1½ C in a container for later use; 1 C might be fine, we make a bigger pizza and like plenty of sauce.

I also use my canned tomatoes in place of the store bought. I make this without measuring - a quart of tomatoes (may need to cook them down first, I can thick quarts for this use) same amount of everything else. I add 1 T Italian Seasoning.

Can make with 1-28 oz can too -- adjust rest (or not)

Play around with the spices to get the kind of sauce you prefer.
