Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 c flour
1 Tbs sugar
1 Tbs salt
1 Tbs baking powder
1 Tsp baking soda
1 pkg quick acting yeast
1 c Crisco
2 c buttermilk
1/2 c warm water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients (1st 6 on the list) together. Add Crisco and mash with potato masher until crumbly.

Add warm water and buttermilk. Mix well to form a soft dough.

Refrigerate 2-3 hours or overnight in a tightly covered bowl. (Biscuits are better (and easier to roll out) if you refrigerate.

Roll out on flour covered surface to 1/8-1/4 inch thickness, cut with biscuit cutter (or I use a small jar about 2" in diameter) and place on ungreased cookie sheet with sides touching.

Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Personal Notes:
Dough will keep in tightly covered bowl for a couple of days if you don't want to make all at once. (Makes about 3 dozen or so depending on how big/how thick you roll and cut them!)
