10 cups Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
6 cups nuts, medium broken pieces (walnuts, pecans, etc.)
1 tbsp. orange rind


1 1/2 tbsp. ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup honey
5 tbsp. oil
1 cup melted butter
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup apple juice (I have substituted brandy)

2 1/2 cups dried cranberries

In a very large bowl, mix the oats, nuts and orange rind. In another bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients, except the cranberries. Pour it over the oat mixture; mix well. Turn out onto 2 large parchment-lined baking sheets with sides. Bake in a preheated 300º oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Add the cranberries during the last 15 minutes of baking time.

This is my favorite recipe to make for bake sales. People go crazy for it and I usually have to take orders ahead of time. I always package the granola in a wax paper-lined craft bag with a cute label. My son Louis has been known to eat a whole bag within a couple of hours!
