1 package German chocolate
1 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2½ cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg whites stiffly beaten

COCONUT PECAN FROSTING

1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sugar
¼ lb. margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
1½ cups coconut
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in water, cool. Cream butter and
sugar until fluffy, add egg yolks, one at a time.
Beat well, add melted chocolate and vanilla, mix
well. Stir dry ingredients, add alternately with
buttermilk and chocolate mixture. Fold in beaten egg whites.
Pour into 3 greased layer pans, lined with waxed (or parchment)
paper. Bake at 350º for 30 to 40 minutes.

COCONUT PECAN FROSTING

Cook and stir first 4 ingredients over medium heat until mixture
thickens, about 12 minutes. Add coconut & chopped nuts.
Beat until thick. Spread on cake.
