1 c. butter or margarine, cubed
1/2 c. water
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 c. mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Frosting:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/ c. butter or margarine, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil. Remove from the heat set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugars, baking soda, eggs, bananas, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat until blended. Carefully add butter mixture; mix well. Stir in nuts. Pour into a greased 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350º for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. For frosting, in a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Gradually add confectioners' sugar. Spread over bars. Store in refrigerator. 3 doz.
