Ingredients:  
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Butter a 9" square baking pan. Melt 1 cup butter in a saucepan. Stir in sugar and cream of tartar. Cook over medium heat until mixture registers 310º on a candy thermometer. (this takes about 10 minutes) Pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Allow to stand several minutes to soften. Spread chocolate over toffee. Sprinkle with pecans. Chill until firm. Remove from pan, break into pieces. Store chilled in an airtight container.
