1 c. margarine or butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. nuts (I use pecans)
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/4 c. hot water
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Add baking soda mixture and mix well. Mix in cinnamon and flour. STIR in nuts and dates. Drop by tsp. on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for 10-12 min.

This is Connie Coats Elliott's recipe. It is very rich and quite yummy! She told me she also adds a bit of nutmeg and cloves. I do too.

A dozen of these and a quart of cold milk makes me really happy!
