Directions:
In a medium bowl, beat the EGGS, SUGAR, MILK, VANILLA, CINNAMON and SALT together.

Have your Griddle heating up over a Medium Heat.

Test the Griddle for readiness by dripping a drop of water onto it. It should sizzle and dance and disappear immediately.

Lightly Oil or Butter the Griddle.

Now, dip the BREAD in the mixture, and then fry on a Lightly Buttered Griddle.

As soon as the underside gets Brown, turn the Slices over to Brown the other side.

Remove from the Griddle and sprinkle with a mixture of 1 Cup of SUGAR and 1 Teaspoon of CINNAMON. - Can also be topped with Powdered Sugar, Syrup, or Jelly.

I grew up enjoying Mom's Lost Bread, and still have it quite often. It always seems to bring back many fond memories of growing up. - Lost Bread got its name from the old folks because as the Bread would get staled, it was thought to be lost. People could not afford to waste bread just because it was stale, so they learned how to use it in many recipes. Bread Pudding, Stuffing, etc. are some of those options. This recipe provided a very tasty, quick and nutritious breakfast as well. The Cajun French do the same thing, but they call it Pan or Pain Pardu or Perdu, depending on who is writing it. I like it with just the Cinnamon and Sugar, but it is very good with the Powdered Sugar, Syrups, or Jellies as well. Just like French Toast would be.
