6-8 flattened/pounded flank steaks to about 1-4-1/2" thick and 6" around in size
8 slices bacon or smoked ham
1 large onion sliced
whole grain mustard
4-6 whole pickles, sliced lengthwise, one for each roll
toothpicks
beef gravy package or cornstarch if you dont have one

Directions:

laying meat flat, spread mustard all over and add chopped onions, a slice of bacon and a pickle on the meat. Roll and tuck in the sides and secure with toothpicks or cooking string. Place seam side down in a roast pan. Do this to all and arrange in pan with enought room around each. Add 1 cup water. Bake at 350deg for about 45 minutes. Prepare gravy in saucepan and pour all over Roulladens. Return to oven for another 15 minutes until bubbly. Served best with mashed potatoes or gnocchi and a green vegetable. Germans traditionally serve with red cabbage.
