1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon grated lemon or orange peel, optional
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar mixed with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients.

Shape dough into 1” balls. Dip into mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Place sugar side up on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly.

Bake in 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Cookies will be soft in center.
