1 cup - butter/margarine
1 cup - packed brown sugar
1/2 cup - white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp - vanilla
1 1/2 cups - flour
1/3 cup - unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp - baking soda
1/2 tsp - salt
1 tsp - cinnamon
1/4 tsp - nutmeg
3 cups - oatmeal
1 cup - raisins

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.

2. Beat butter/margarine and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix well. Stir in oats and raisins, mix well.

3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until cookies are almost set. Do not over bake. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets, then move to wire racks. Cool - store tightly covered.

The cinnamon and nutmeg add flavour to the cookies.

Raisin Variation: Boil the cup of raisins in 1/2 cup water for five minutes, then cool. Drain before adding to batter. This will make the raisins plump and soft.
