6 cups apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 inch slices, and tossed with 1 tbsp. lemon juice
( I like a mixture of a tart apple, like Granny Smith, and a sweet Apple like Ambrosia; you can also substitute pears for the sweet apple)

1 c. large flake oats
I/3 c. flour
1/3 c. butter melted
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg (optional)

Preheat oven to 375ºF. Place apples in bottom of greased 2 quart baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients together and spread evenly over apples. Bake for 45 minutes or until fruit is bubbly and fully cooked. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
