1 acorn squash, cut in half to make two "bowls"
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º F.

Slice squast in half and scoop the seeds and stringy pulp out of the squash cavities and throw away. In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, softened butter, syrup and salt and pepper, to taste. Rub insides of the squash and top edges with the butter mixture and place them on a baking sheet, cut side up like bowls. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour until the squash is tender when pierced with a fork. Serve 1 "bowl" per person. You can add some sourcream and bacon crumbles for a richer flavor.
