½ lb. salt butter, room temperature
2 tbs. sugar
2 ½ cups flour
3 egg yolks, put whites in the refrigerator
½ cup warm milk and water [. ¼ cup milk,1/4 cup water.]
1 package yeast

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm milk and water mixture Let stand 15 minutes.
Cream butter and sugar .
Add egg yolks one at a time and beat well.
Add flour and then add yeast mixture.
Beat till smooth.
Shape into a square. Wrap in saran wrap and then in tin foil.
Refrigerate over night.

The next day:
Beat egg whites with ½ tsp cream of tartar ,1/2 tsp vanilla and ¾ cups sugar till thick.

Take dough out of the refrigerator and divide into three pieces.
Work with one at a time and put the rest back in the refrigerator.

Roll out the dough into a rectangle.
Brush dough with egg white mixture.
Fill as desired with chopped walnuts, cinnamon and sugar mixture, raisins, or jelly.
(You must use the cinnamon and sugar mixture so the cake will be sweet. Then add all or some of the other fillings.)
Roll up the dough on the long side like a jelly roll.
Place in a greased pan, large enough to hold the other rolls, seam side down.
Make the other two rolls and put in the pan.
Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise.

Bake in a 350º oven till nicely browned.
