Directions:Pre-heat oven to 400° F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet (I use one of my iron skillets).Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut the butter pieces into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in cheese until evenly distributed. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add the buttermilk (or skim milk). Stir well with a wooden spoon. Let the dough stand for 3 minutes. Sprinkle the dough with flour and stir once or twice then turn out onto a well floured counter. With a rolling pin, roll the dough out into a 15 x 7 inch rectangle, cut 6 triangles. Roll it pretty thin to less than 1/4 inch, but note it will spring back to a thicker texture. One at a time, roll up the hot dogs in the triangles. Place pointy side on a greased iron skillet or cookie sheet. Bake for 12-13 minutes, until golden brown. Cool on the sheet for 3 minutes. Serve with ketchup and mustard. |

Notes: “I use this recipe to also make the dough for the base of a veggie pizza instead of the store bought Pillsbury crescent rolls. Instead of rolling this out like the directions for this recipe, you press it out in the bottom of an 8 x 12 inch rectangular glass baking dish. Bake for about 12 minutes or until light brown at 400° F and let cool before adding the cream cheese mixture for the veggie pizza.” Jill
