1 cabbage shredded and rubbed with salt
1 onion diced
1 carrot diced
1 can whole tomatoes, crushed with hands.
Juice of one lemon
2 T sugar
3 T ketchup
Salt and pepper
Flanken, two or three pieces, or 2 lbs. boneless short ribs
Beef marrow bones

Directions:
Directions:
Slice cabbage very thinly and put in a colander. Salt the cabbage and rub the salt all over the cabbage. Then rinse thoroughly with cold water. Put the cabbage and all other ingredients in a large pot and add water to a little below cabbage. Cook slowly for two or three hours, covered. Taste after one hour. Add more sugar, lemon juice or ketchup if needed.
Add beef bullion for flavor if needed.
