1 c sifted all purpose flour
1/2 c soft butter or margarine
2 tbsp sifted icing sugar
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 c granulated sugar
1/4 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp almond extract
1/2 c shredded coconut
1/2 c maraschino cherries, quartered and drained

Directions:
Directions:
Combine 1 c flour, butter and icing sugar. Work together until blended ad pat thinly into ungreased 8" square pan. Bake at 350º F until lightly browned, about 20 minutes.
Into slightly beaten eggs, gradually beat 1 c sugar, then 1/4 c flour sifted with baking powder and salt. Add vanilla, almond extract, coconut and cherries. Spread carefully over baked cookie base. Return to oven until top is set and lightly browned, about 25 minutes. When almost cooled cut into about 30 pieces.
