½ cup sugar
¼ cup butter
½ cup white corn syrup
¼ tsp. salt
8 cups popped popcorn

Directions:
Directions:
Heat all ingredients except popcorn to boiling in Dutch oven over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 2 minutes; (add a few drops food coloring if desired) remove from heat. Stir in popcorn until well coated; cool slightly.
Dip hands into cold water. Shape mixture into the balls, each about 2 ½ inches in diameter. Place on wax paper; cool. Wrap individually in plastic wrap, or place in plastic bags and seal.

Back when everyone knew their neighbors, and felt like they could trust them, people used to make homemade treats to give away on Halloween. I remember mom making these brightly colored popcorn balls and giving them away to our neighbors on Halloween.
