As narrated to me when Claudia was 94 years old.

Directions:
Directions:
Pick a lot of blackberries. The riper, the better, but some green ones add flavor. Wash them and make sure they are clean. Spread them out to dry. Make dough. If it’s a big pan, make lots of batter. 3 cups flour, ½ spoon baking powder, scant tsp. salt, tbsp. sugar. Mix it. Add liquid, half milk and half glass water a little at a time. Add eggs, maybe 2. Get it to the texture you want. Bake at 350 at least 15 minutes.
When it’s nice and brown and bubbly and smells good you know it is done. Let it cool. If you put ice cream on it when it’s warm, it will melt, but that won’t hurt it a bit.

Personal Notes:
When we asked Claudia’s grandkids which recipe of Claudia’s they wanted included, this was the one they almost all mentioned. Of course they remember helping Claudia pick the berries too.
