1/2 c butter mil
1 lg egg lightly beaten
1/2 c self rising cornmeal mix
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 c all purpose flour
3 med size firm green tomatoes, cut into 1/3 inch slices
vegetable oil

Directions:
Directions:
Whisk together egg and buttermilk. Combine cornmeal mix, salt, pepper and 1/4 c flour in a shallow dish. Dredge tomato slice in remaining flour; dip slice into egg mixture and cornmeal mixture.
Pour oil to a depth of 1/2 inch thick in a large cast-iron skillet heat to 375º over medium-high heat. Drop tomatoes in batches into the hot oil. fry on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt to taste. serve immediately.
