Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 c. lukewarm water
5 tbsp. lard (Gramma uses bacon drippings)
5 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
2-3 tbsp. yeast
1 tbsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together 1 cup of the water and 1 tbsp. of sugar and the yeast. Stir and set aside to rise for about 10 minutes. Melt the lard in the remaining water. Add the vinegar, salt and remaining sugar. Add the yeast mixture and enough flour to make a stiff dough. Gramma says the stiffer the dough, the better. This takes about 9 cups of flour. Gramma puts the dough in a bowl and covers with a towel or loose lid. She places the bowl in warm water in the sink. Apparently this helps it rise faster. Once the dough doubles in size, punch it down and let it rise again. Shape into loaves. Let them rise and bake at 350 for atleast 45 minutes. Makes about 4 loaves or 3 loaves and a big pan of cinnamon buns.
