"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Personal Notes:
This recipe was given to me from an awesome baker in Humboldt County. This is a great pie! This recipe makes enough filling for two pies.

This was not only one of my favorite pies, but our dog Bailey''s too. Whenever I got this pie, I had to eat the whole thing in a single sitting. Leftover pie was not an option. If I brought that pie home it didn't matter where I put it, that dog would find it and eat it, every single time! Bailey would find a way to get up on the counter and eat it (not just eat a few bites, but eat the whole pie). Did I mention I hate that dog! Worse dog we ever had.
