1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 teaspoons ginger
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup strong molasses
1 cup shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, and syrup. Add buttermilk and baking soda (mixed together). Add sifted dry ingredients. Batter can be stored in refrigerator up to one week. Bake for 25 minutes at 350º.

Be sure to refrigerate batter before baking.
