Sift together:
1 ¾ cup flour
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt

Stir in:
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup sugar
1 cup melted butter
1 tbsp molasses
¼ cup milk
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup raisins or nuts or chips

Arrange by tsp on buttered cookie sheet. Bake till edges brown – about 12 minutes. Makes 75. For thinner cookies, decrease flour to 1 ½ cup, and oatmeal to 1 ¾ cup. Original recipe calls for ½ cup melted butter and ½ cup melted lard.
