4lbs bone in beef short ribs
salt & pepper to taste
2tsp vegetable oil

flavoring liquids
1c ketchup
2Tbsp spicy brown mustard
1Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1Tbsp red wine vinegar

seasonings
1tsp smoked paprika
1/4tsp crushed red pepper
1/4tsp onion powder

Directions:

in 12" skillet heat veg oil on med-high until very hot, in batches brown short ribs on meaty side only

in slow cooker whisk together flavoring liquids & seasonings

transfer meat to slow cooker, cover & cook on high 5hours or low 10 hours, transfer meat to cutting board; skim and discard fat from liquid
transfer cooking liquid to sauce pot and boil on med heat reducing liquid to half (5-10 min)
with hands shred meat, discarding fat, bones & gristle
transfer shredded meat to pot with reduced sauce

serve on buns with coleslaw
