1 (2 lb.) bag of dried pinto beans
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 fresh jalapeņo pepper
6 c. water
palmful of cumin

Directions:
Directions:
Place all ingredients in slow cooker and set temperature on low. Cook for 10 hours. Use a potato masher to reach desired consistency.

Serve with sour cream, cheese, avocado, green onion and your favorite tortilla chip.

In an effort to save time and half a jalapeņo pepper, I often use pickled jalapeņo slices. The flavor is still there without the heat that my kids find too intense with fresh pepper sometimes.
