1 c. Crisco shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 oz. red food coloring
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 heaping T. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 T. vinegar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and Crisco, add coloring and mix well.
Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
Sift flour, cocoa, salt and soda and add alternately with buttermilk.
Fold in vinegar and vanilla.
Bake in 3 greased round pans at 350º for 30-35 min.
Ice with white or cream cheese icing.
