1 1/4 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup butter flavoured Crisco
2 tbsp. maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. maple flavouring
1 egg

1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts

Directions:

Mix first 6 ingredients, beating well. Add the dry ingredients. Beat until just blended.
Drop in small balls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Press walnut halves into the centre of each.
Bake at 375º F for 8 - 10 minutes for chewy cookies.
