1 clove garlic
1 tbsp. butter
2 1/2 lbs. potatoes, thinly sliced
3 C. half and half
1 tsp. salt
1/3 tsp. black pepper
pinch of grated nutmeg
1 C. Gruyere Cheese, grated
1 lb. ham, cubed

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat the oven at 350º. Rub a 3 qt. casserole dish with garlic then coat with melted butter. Combine, in a saucepan, the sliced potatoes, half and half, s/p and nutmeg. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and stir until liquid thickens slightly, (5 minutes.) Add the ham. Pour into the prepare dish. Submerge the potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
