1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. hickory nuts
1/2 tsp salt
4 egg whites

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites stiff, set aside.
Combine dry ingredients, sift and set aside.
In large bowl, beat butter to cream and add sugar and beat till smooth.
Alternate adding flour mixture and water to butter mixture and beat for 3 min.
Add 1/2 of egg whites, add nuts and then remainder of whites.
Bake at 350 º for 40-45 min.
Ice cooled cake with cream cheese icing and decorate with hickory nuts.
