6 apples (MacIntosh or Roma)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon sour salt

Directions:
Grease and flour a 9x13 pan. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Peel, core, and cut up apples into small pieces, place into small bowl and add 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, sour salt, and lemon juice. Mix well until ingredients are evenly distributed in the apples. Mix remaining sugar and 2 sticks butter together in a bowl, using an electric mixer. Add one egg at a time and continue to mix. Add flour gradually, then baking powder, followed by vanilla sugar. If dough is watery, add 1-2 tablespoons of flour, if needed. Pour batter into the pan. Layer apples on top

To make crumb topping, mix the 1/4 stick of butter, two tablespoons of flour, and confectioner sugar with a spoon (initially). Change and mix with fingers so that crumbs form. Sprinkle crumb mixture on top of apple layer in the pan.
Bake 40 - 50 minutes.
