2 C. half-half
3 C. heavy cream
14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 C. sugar
4 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. of nutmeg
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
1 C. boiling water, plus more for pan
1 loaf of French Bread, brioche or challah, cubed into 1" pieces
1/2 C. raisin
3 oz. sugar

Butter a 9x13" dish, set aside. Put bread in a large bowl, set aside. Heat milk and cream over medium-high heat until it almost simmers; remove from heat. Whisk eggs, yolk, sugar, salt, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Whisking, pour milk mixture into egg mixture. Pour over bread; fold to combine. Let stand 30 minutes, tossing and pressing to submerge bread. Soak raisins in 1 C. boiling water for 30 minutes. Drain and stir raisins into bread mixture. Preheat oven at 350 degrees. With a slotted spoon, transfer bread to buttered dish; pour liquid in bowl over top of bread. Using spoon, turn top layer of bread crust side up. Set dish in a roasting pan and put into oven. Pour boiling water into pan to reach halfway up sides of dish. Bake until golden brown, 50 minutes. Let dish cool on rack 10-20 minutes..
