2 cakes fresh yeast
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup cut up candied cherries
5 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup cut up citron
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp. lemon rind

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in water. Scald milk, pour over shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to luke warm. Add 2 cups of flour, then yeast. Stir smooth. Add eggs, rind, fruits, and 2 cups of flour. Stir smooth. Add 1 cup flour or more to make soft dough. Knead lightly. Set to rise. Bake about 1-1/2 hour at 375º.
