1/2 cup red or green decorator sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp each: ground ginger, cinnamon, and all-spice
3/4 cup butter or margarine at room temperature
1 cup white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup molasses

Directions:
Directions:
Pour red and green sugar in separate plates.
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper
Sift dry ingredients and spices into a medium bowl
In a larger bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
Beat in egg and molasses until well- blended
Mix in flour mixture.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls, roll in coloured sugar and place onto cookie sheet.
Preheat oven and bake cookies for 8 minutes. Don't overbake, cookies should be chewy. Cool cookies on rack.

Note: To make coloured sugar place sugar on a sandwich plate and add 2 or 3 drops of food colouring. Mix with a spoon until all colour is absorbed in the sugar.
