1 c shortening (half butter)
1 c sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dough. Divide in half and add red food coloring to one part. Make thin 1/4" x 3" coils. Twist one red and one white coil together and bend one end to form a candy cane. Bake 9 minutes on ungreased pan at 375º till barely tan on edges.
