1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 Tbsp. molasses (or corn syrup)
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cloves (or allspice)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and molasses (or syrup).
Blend flour, soda and spices. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well.
Chill for 1 hour.
Roll out on lightly floured surface.
Cut with cookie cutters. Place on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake @ 375º- 400º for 5-8 minutes.
Can decorate with colored icing, etc.
