Ingredients:
Ingredients:
½ cup White Vinegar
4 tbsp.* Balsamic Vinegar
1 cup Sugar
3 tbsp. Brown Sugar
2 tsp. Garlic Powder
½ tsp.* Cayenne Pepper
¾ cup Lemon Juice (or 4 fresh lemons)
Use the zest from 1 of the lemons
Reserve 1 whole lemon peel to cook with sauce
2 cup Tomato Catsup or Ketchup
2 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
½ cup Vegetable Oil or Bacon Grease*

Directions:
Directions:
Combine vinegars and sugars in medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved. Add garlic powder, cayenne pepper and lemon juice. Slice up one of the lemons with peels and add to the mixture. Cover and allow this mixture to simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the catsup and Worcestershire sauce, and continue simmering.

If cooking chicken on the grill or pit, add the oil to the mix. This allows the meat to be basted with oil during the early stages of grilling, and will not burn as easily as the sauce will. For added flavor, substitute the bacon grease* for vegetable oil.

The sauce can simmer during the entire grilling process, and will thicken as it cooks. Once the mixture is cooled, it can be refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
When I was young, I used to watch my dad make his BBQ sauce, and he never measured anything. It was all by taste. When I got older and began grilling on my own, I tried to duplicate what he did by taste and what I remembered. I finally wrote down what I did step by step. I've added my own twist to the recipe, indicated by the asterisks. I usually double the recipe, and there is very little left after supper.
