1/ c ( 1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 to 5 tart large apples ( I like Granny Smith)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º Grease 8x8 square baking dish. Combine butter,sugar, and eggs in large bowl and beat thoroughly. Add flour, baking powder, and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Spread evenly in baking dish.

Combine sugar and cinnamon. Peel and core apples and thinly slice into large bowl. Add sugar/cinnamon mixture to taste, coating apples thoroughly. (I use a bowl with lid so I can shake them). Arrange slices on top of batter in overlapping rows, pressing lightly into batter.

Bake 1 hour. Cool, cut into squares. Serve it with whipped cream.
