1 c. raisins
2 c. water
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp lard
1 c. sugar
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp cinnamon
pinch of salt
1½ c. flour
½ c. chopped walnuts (opt)
½ c. coconut (opt)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine raisins and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Add soda and lard, let cool. Add raisin mixture to dry ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased 8" square pan.
Bake at 350º for 20-25 minutes.
