Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 lbs. ground pork
2 medium onions chopped fine
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
3 medium potatoes
Enough pie dough to make three 2-crusted pies (I buy premade frozen pie shells for the lower and premade pie dough for the upper crust)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
In a large pot, cook the pork, onions and spices until most of the liquid get evaporated. (liquid / juice comes from the pork,  it is not fat, it is flavor). I find that a turkey roasting pan works well on the stove with 2 burners going.
In a separate pot, boil 3 medium potatoes. Mash then add to the meat mixture. The potatoes give it body.  Still kinda like pudding consistency and thats okay.
Divide the mixture between the three pie shells. Don't be a'skared to pile the meat up. Cover with the flat pie dough and either cut slits or a hole in the middle so the pies can vent.
Bake for 45 minutes @ 350* or until golden brown.
These freeze well. Just thaw to room temp. and place in oven for 20 minutes to re-heat.
Goes well with brown gravy or ketchup.

My sis-in-law Kathy is a wonderful cook and baker. She makes these meat pies mostly around Christmas.... for years I have loved this recipe, but never asked for it because the taste was so incredible (and pies in and of themselves scare me because I can't make pie dough to save my life)... Homesick for our annual Christmas dinner with the Banas's... I asked Kathy for the recipe... It was so easy! I ended up making about 9 pies this Christmas and shared them with my new Arizona neighbors (and froze some for us!). Trust me... make these and you'll be hooked!!!!!!
