Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 large head of cabbage
2 eggs
Water to cover
1 teaspoon salt
5 pounds ground beef
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 cup par-cooked rice
1 can tomato soup
Garlic powder to taste
1 large can tomatoes
1 large onion, grated (or omit onion, eggs and seasonings and add 1 package dry onion soup)

Directions:
Directions:
Score bottom of cabbage around core. Place in a large pot over high heat and add water to cover. Boil cabbage for 15 minutes, or until it is pliable and soft. Drain and allow to cool. Peel leaves from core, removing the hard vein from the leaves. In separate bowl, combine the beef, rice, garlic powder, salt, pepper and eggs (or onion soup), mixing well. Place a small amount, about the size of your palm, into the center of a cabbage leaf and fold leaf over, tucking in the sides of the leaf to keep meat mixture inside. Pile up the filled leaves in a large Dutch oven or casserole. Add the tomato soup and tomatoes and enough water to cover. Cover pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from stovetop and place in oven. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1½ hours.

I got this recipe from my mother-in-law, Helen Drotar. It is a favorite for holidays and weddings.
