One head of lettuce, chopped fine
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced green pepper
1/2 cup diced onion
1 or 2/3 package small frozen peas
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 strips fried bacon, broken up
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:
In a medium-large bowl layer in order the lettuce, celery, green pepper, onion, peas, cheese, and bacon. Cover the entire top of salad with the mayonnaise, sealing the edges when spreading it on. Let it sit overnight in the refrigerator. Do not stir until ready to serve. Serves a crowd

My sister Linda gave me this recipe many years ago.
Many vegetables may be added before the onions and peppers to vary the salad including cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, grated carrots, etc.
