1 fryer or hen
4 c. flour (sifted with small amount salt)
1/2 c. Crisco
ice water
chicken broth (canned)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil fryer until tender with salt and pepper. Cool, debone, and cut into pieces.
Dumplings:
Cut Crisco in with flour and salt using a pastry knife. Add enough ice water to hold together. Knead until smooth. Divide in half and roll out fairly thin. Cut into strips and let dry about 20 minutes. Roll out the other half and let dry. Dough should be hard to roll out. Cook dumplings in chicken broth adding canned broth as needed. Add chicken and serve.
