2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1 stick oleo
6 Tablespoons cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
Icing:
6 Tablespoons milk
1 stick oleo
4 Tablespoons cocoa
1 box powdered sugar
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon butter flavoring (we omit this)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Cake: Sift flour and sugar into a large mixing bowl. In a saucepan mix and bring 1 cup of water, Crisco, oleo, and cocoa to a boil. Add to flour mixture and stir. Mix in eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix well and pour into greased and floured 8x14 pan (baking sheet). Bake 20-25 minutes. Five minutes before cake is done start icing.

Icing: Bring to boil milk, oleo, and cocoa. Remove from heat and mix in powdered sugar. Beat well and mix in pecans, vanilla, and butter flavoring (if used). Pour onto cake when taken from oven.

This recipe was taken out of Nanny's (Mildred Hoggard) recipe box. Nanny got this recipe from Aunt Rebecca in 1960. It became a family favorite and was later called Sheath Cake.
