Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. butter
4 eggs
4 c. sifted flour
2 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. grated orange peel
2 c. sugar
1 ½ c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 c. chopped dates

Glaze
1 c. orange juice
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. grated orange peel

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together. Add to first mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add nuts, dates and orange peel last. Bake in a greased and floured tube cake pan for two hours at 300.

Just before cake is done, mix glaze and place on a slow burner. Do not boil. As soon a cake is removed from the oven, pour steaming glaze over top and stick top of cake with a tooth pick to allow glaze to soak in. Allow to cool in pan.
This cake will keep for weeks if properly wrapped.
