1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 T. milk
1/2 c. sliced almonds, chopped

Icing:
1 c. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1-2 T. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.

Cream sugar and butter. Beat in egg and extract. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture and mix well.

Divide dough into fourths. Form each into 12-in. x 3-in. rectangles. Place 5 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Brush with milk and sprinkle with almonds.

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until firm to the touch and edges are lightly browned. Cool on pans for 5 minutes and then cut diagonally into 1-in. slices. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Combine icing ingredients and drizzle over bars.
